The Town

It is just another bank heist movie, but it's SOOO good! I love movies that have trickery in them, I don't mean Red Herrings. I mean, the characters thought this shit through and they have a plan, a plan to execute, and plan of escape! *crack the whip* This one had it all, mixed in a love story, and some she's-not-my-baby-momma-drama.

Blake Lively will amaze you with her skankiness and piss you off at the same time. Stupid hooker! I could have done without the last 5 scond screen shot of the movie. Directors are always fucking up the closing of a movie. *sigh*

Regardless, this is a must see, don't take the kids though, within the first 10 minutes we get a little bit of steamy action. And WHO the hell... Names their child Shine!? Crack heads...

The Runaways

Loved, loved, loved this movie! It's hilarious when it shouldn't be! It's raunchy when it should be! And it made me want to get drunk and pop some pills! Dakota Fanning, bless her! I have not seen a movie of hers that I have not liked. She was amazing! Crazy amazing, I was watching it thinking I can't believe this is Dakota Fanning! The role seems so out of her element, yet she NAILS it! Kristen Stewart played a role that fit her SOOO perfectly! They couldn't have hired a better cast! Michael Shannon made this movie! With his sexual puns, that were not so discreet and his 70's sex, sex, sex attitude. He had me cracking up the whole time! OH how I wish I was apart of the 70's. Then again, maybe it is a good thing that I wasn't. Oh and did I mention I love The Runaway's music and Joan Jett's of course!

Expert Says: 4.5 Stars, all adults will enjoy

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

YAY! Love them movie. They portrayed every emotion I had in the book into the movie. I still got pissed at the end when Bella didn't want Jacob to leave in the woods (eh? you remember right?). Oh and I still laughed when Bella and Edward were lying down that one night and Bella tried to... well, you know! I am sure you laughed too.

I am totally a Team Edward fan; however, I think in this movie he gave off a creepy vibe instead of an I'm in love you vibe. I wish they would have extended the camping in the woods scenes, because that played a lot into Jacob and Edward's relationship.

Another plus. All you Twihards probably know about The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella, right? Well, I liked how in the movie they incorporated some of that story into the movie, because there were totally some things in the movie that were not in the book. It only made the story that much better and I truly hope that Stephanie Meyers will continuing giving us little short stories about other characters in the book.

I don't know if I can wait until November of 2011 for the first part of Breaking Dawn to come out! My heart is already going pitter patter as that is my favorite book and I have high, high hopes for it. Afterall, they had 3 movies before it to perfect the moods!

Sweet November

This movie is different. For those of you who don't know. We get the illusion that Sara (Theron) takes in one man each month, then after the month ends she kicks them out. Her logic for this is that she wants to help the man grow and gain something he is missing (i.e. confidence) or loose something he doesn't need (i.e. workaholic). So, one man a month is living with her, and she is a sleeping with them. She is a total whore right? Wrong.



As the movie continues on, I started to think that she was BRILLIANT. I mean, how many times do us women get our heart broken or get in too seriously too quickly and everything falls a part? Well, her method avoids all of that. I believe Sara said, in regard to why the man only stays for a month, "because it is long enough to be meaningful but short enough to stay out of trouble." Sara is having these great relationships and then getting our before it gets to serious.


What happens next? Nelson does or should I call him November.


Nelson, a workaholic who just lost his job and his girlfriend found is way to Sara's apartment and became her November. November changed Sara when he found out that he happy-go-lucky attitude was a cover up to something much greater. But, November is in love and nothing is going to stand in the way on Sara.


We WANT Sara to be happy and be with Nelson. Will November be able to crack old habits and force her to settle down with one man? Or will Sara prove to be more stubborn than any of thought and turn down true love?



Experts Says: 4.5 Stars, Cute Love Story.

Coach Carter

I'm not big into sports movies and this is because I am not big into sports. Yea, crazy, right? I like physically GOING to watch an event, but seeing it on T.V.? BORING! I do love Samuel L. Jackson.

This movie was a little different. This movie wasn't so much about the game of basketball, as it is about the teammates struggle in a deprived and uneducated area. Family, society, drugs, loosing ones self, loosing hope... Gaining strength, new friends, a team, success. This movie has almost everything and is beautifully told.

End the end the team gets more than just a championship. Come on, we all like to see people who have nothing, come to have everything they asked for.

Expert Says: 5 Stars, something the WHOLE family can enjoy.

G.I. Jane

I didn't get to watch this movie when it first came out. I'm certain it was at least 2 years later before I saw it. I saw it again recently and I was reminded of WHY I wanted to join the Navy at one point in my life.

I am one of those individuals, like Jordan (Moore), who HATES to be told that I cannot do something, and DO NOT even think about telling me I cannot do it for reasons that I cannot control. Like age, gender, sexual preference, etc...

Demi Moore tells the military to kiss her ass and with the help of a Senator gets to join the Navy SEALS, a career that even today females cannot do.

This movie shows the brutality towards women soldiers and the discrimination we face. Jordan had to go through many, many lengths in order to be accepted by her fellow comrades. She shaved her hair off, and told them to, "SUCK MY DICK." Cheers all around for that last one.

Eventually, politics and money took an even bigger toll and the Senator stopped back up Jordan, which forced her to leave the SEALS. It was a long and rigorous fight.

Expert Says: 5 Stars, male of female you will enjoy this movie.

Juno

This movie is just all around funny. I love Juno's (Page) sarcasm throughout. There is a lot of symbolism in this movie that shows these kids are in high school, like a hamburger phone. Really? Who had a hamburger phone? Who WANTED a hamburger phone?

I think Juno's Dad (Simmons) and step-mom (Janney) handled the situation WAY too calmly. How would you react if your [future] 16 year old daughter told you she was pregnant? I'd go through the roof! And NO WAY would I let the father of the baby get away with it. Juno's parents don't even tell the GUYS parents that he got someone knocked up! They would be the first people I called. I guess in a way it shows the typical un-involvement on the high school daddy to the [young] woman's pregnancy.

And what the heck was going on with Juno and future adoption baby daddy (Bateman)? Juno totally liked him and he seemed to like her back? But, they never crossed that invisible line. I mean, come one? As much as we wanted Bateman to leave his over the top, neat and control freak, Suzzie homemaker wife and future adoption baby momma (Garner) we would have HATED him if he tried anything with a pregnant 16 year old. So, why even SHOW the attraction in the movie?

I think Juno had one realistic moment in the movie where she was complaining that real baby daddy, Paulie (Cera) was going to prom with someone else, while she was stuck being pregnant and not going to prom. She threw a little fit and she had every right! How dare him. Pregnancy is a 'we' not a 'she.' (I just made that up, how does it sound? Good?).

I don't even know how to categorize the music in this movie. It's sort of, reggae meets alternative meets old school punk meets John Mayer??? Whatever it is... It's good.

Anyway, the movie is still funny, the sarcasm and one-liners are hilarious and I can watch it over and over again. Great job.

OH! My favorite line from the movie is when Juno was taking like her 3rd pregnancy test at the local drug store and the clerk was like, "This is one doodle that can't be undid, Home Skillet."

The Time Traveler's Wife

Okay, so by request from Twenty-Something The Time Traveler's Wife is my first movie review.

Holy cow, this was a book? I had no clue until the end of the movie, at which point I immediately deemed this a horrible movie, because there is no way it could be better than the book right? Well, maybe not; but having never read the actual book, this was an amazing movie.

Extra props for being a sci-fi movie and my actually liking it because the whole Star Wars thing, ummmm no thanks!

The movie starts off dramatic, it really grabs your attention and reals you in for the entire 107 minutes. Of those 107 minutes the last 30-45 minutes stole tears from my eyes and this time I know it wasn't the PMS because that stage had passed.

The chemistry between Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana is undeniable; if I didn't know better, I would say that there might be a little off set romance going on. Some of the movie is fairly predictable so it looses some points.

Expert Says: 4.5 Stars; go check this one out (take the family); bring tissue; enjoy.
